We believe in finding freedom through authentic, God-centered relationships.

Humans are created for relationships. Groups are places for encouraging, praying, and sharing life together. They are a safe space where we are free to be ourselves and to find a home among people who can help us be who God created us to be.

If you're new to small groups at Calvary, we encourage you to start with Rooted.

A Life Group is a weekly gathering of people who meet to study God's Word, learn how to follow Jesus together, and share life in community. Life Groups meet everywhere, from homes to coffee shops to online gatherings.

We encourage everyone to participate in Rooted as a first step of growing in their faith.

Rooted

Ten weeks that change everything

Rooted walks you through the key spiritual disciplines that form the foundation of a life with Christ, while connecting you with others doing the same.

Over the course of 10 weeks, you'll put into practice not only what Jesus did, but also discover your purpose and how it fits within God's broader redemptive narrative. Rooted is not another Bible study; it's an experience that grows our relationship with Christ.

This fall's Rooted groups are closed to new members. Rooted Winter 2027 begins Wednesday, Jan. 13 at 6:30 p.m. Questions? Send us a message.

The 7 Rhythms: Daily Devotion, Prayer, Repentance, Sacrificial Generosity, Serve the Community, Share Your Story, and Worship.

Shared experiences: a Prayer and Fasting Experience, a Serve Experience, and a Generosity Experience help move faith from belief into everyday practice.

Childcare: Life and Rooted Groups are for adults (exceptions can be made for nursing newborns, up to six months). On Wednesday evenings, we have ministry opportunities for nursery ages through high school. Kid and YTH check-in begins at 6:30.

Rooted FAQ

10 weeks. Real community. A deeper life with Jesus.

Following Jesus is about more than what we know; it's about how we live. Rooted is a 10-week experience designed to help you put your faith into practice and grow in your relationship with Christ. In a small group environment, you'll explore Scripture, engage in prayer, serve together, and practice rhythms that are essential to a healthy spiritual life.

Whether you're new to faith or have been following Jesus for years, Rooted creates space to grow deeper, build meaningful relationships, learn about Jesus, and practice living like Him.

What content is covered during Rooted?

Rooted introduces the 7 Rhythms that shape a life of following Jesus: Daily Devotion, Prayer, Repentance, Sacrificial Generosity, Serve the Community, Share Your Story, and Worship.

Throughout the semester, participants engage in weekly conversations, spiritual practices, and three key shared experiences: a Prayer and Fasting Experience, a Serve Experience, and a Generosity Experience. These experiences help move faith from belief into everyday practice.

Rooted is the on-ramp to Life Groups. At the end of the 10 weeks, your Rooted group becomes your Life Group, and you may also continue your discipleship journey by leading a Rooted or Life Group.

How do I choose a group?

Start with when and where you can go. Our list of open groups shows each group's day, time, and place, and tapping one shows who leads it and what it's like.

How often do Rooted Groups meet?

Rooted Groups meet weekly on Wednesday evenings or Sunday mornings. They meet for 10 weeks at a time with breaks built in throughout the year.

What about childcare?

Life and Rooted Groups are for adults. (Exceptions can be made for nursing newborns, up to six months.) On Wednesday evenings, we have ministry opportunities for nursery ages through high school. Kid and YTH check-in begins at 6:30!

Is there an age minimum?

Yes, Rooted is a curriculum for adults (18+).

Does Rooted cost anything?

The cost is $50 per person, which covers your Rooted workbook, Kick-Off Gathering, and Celebration Dinner.

What if I cannot make all ten weeks?

The first week of a Rooted course is important, however if you miss week one, your leader will be in contact with you, and you can still join your group.

We understand that Rooted is a time commitment, but we believe it is worth it to invest in the entire process. If you know you are going to miss more than 2 meetings, we ask that you wait until the next session of Rooted. The 10 weeks are a cumulative experience, so we ask that every participant commits to honoring each other by being at every meeting.

Rose Thomas

Director of Groups

I was born and raised in India and came to the States 25 years ago. My husband, Pradeep, and I have two wonderful children. I have always had a heart for building meaningful connections. My love for exploring new cultures, connecting with people from diverse backgrounds, and creating memorable experiences was a natural segue to the Small Groups Ministry. I enjoy every day that I work at Calvary and serve the Lord and His people.
